Fake investments (crypto, trading, “guaranteed profits”)
How it works
- Ads on Facebook/TikTok/Google with celebrities or TV presenters “recommending” an investment platform
- Forged web pages imitating Digi24, ProTV, Antena, etc. with fabricated articles
- After a small “investment” (€200–300), a “broker” calls you insistently to put in more and more money
- The platform shows fake profits; when you want to withdraw, you are asked for extra “fees” or the account disappears
Warning signs
- “Guaranteed” profit: real investments NEVER guarantee a profit
- Celebrities “recommending” it: their image is being used without their consent
- A “personal broker” who calls you every day and pressures you
- You are asked for remote access to your phone/laptop “to help you invest”
- The platform does not appear in the ASF register (asfromania.ro) or that of any European authority
- Withdrawing your money is conditional on paying “unlocking fees”
What to do
- Check whether the platform is authorised by the ASF or an EU authority. If it does not appear, it is a fraud.
- Do not install anything at a “broker's” request.
- If you have already invested: stop any further payment. The “unlocking fees” are part of the fraud too. The money “in the account” does not exist.
