Fake classified ads (OLX, Facebook Marketplace, rentals)
How it works
- A “buyer” says they paid through “OLX delivery” and sends you a link so you can “receive the money”
- The link leads to a cloned page where you enter your card details: the money leaves, it does not come in
- For rentals, a “landlord” who is abroad asks for an advance and will “send the keys by courier”
- When you sell, the scammer may also ask for the SMS code, which they use to pay with your card
Warning signs
- The buyer does not want to meet and insists on a link
- You are asked for card details or an SMS code in order to receive money
- The landlord cannot be seen and asks for an advance
- Prices far below the market and great haste
What to do
- Money is not received by entering card details. Do not open the link you received.
- Use only the procedures inside the platform's official app.
- Do not pay an advance for a property you have not seen and without a contract.
- Report the ad and the account to the platform.
